YMCA Special
From the 1913 YMCA Catalog of the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co., page 41
The YMCA Table is a new design intended to meet the demands for a medium grade of table which has no ornate moldings or ornamentations, yet which will give service to any Association for years.
It is made in stock sizes 4x8 weighing 1150 pounds and 4 1/2 x 9, weighing 1,275 pounds and can be furnished in carom, pocket or combination. Special sizes can be made up on comparatively short notice. It is built of quarter sawed oak, cross veneered and is finished in our No. 6 medium or golden color with white holly inlay having a small black border.
The frame work of the body is 1 7/8" thick by 12 1/2" wide with reinforcing blocks at corners. The wood construction is of good quality, cabinet made and put together in a most thorough manner. All joints are made close and secure and all mitres absolutely accurate.
The cushion rails are cabinet construction, 1 3/4" by 3 5/8". the hardwood core is reinforced with one thickness of veneer on each side, thereby giving it additional strength.
The slate bed is of good quality Vermont slate, 4 pieces to the set, firmly screwed to a wood frame, 7/8" thick.
The cushions re our renowned standard quick acting Monarch.
The pocket irons have nickel plated flanges countersunk in cushion rail top, provided with invisible bolts from the lower side of the rail and heavy black cover leather and red trimming leather.
The table while unusually reasonable in price is a table which will compare favorably with some of the best grade furnished by other concerns and for the money invested will yield excellent returns to any YMCA. |
